Writing before I could run, weaving stories that were more fun than reality. First person in my family born in the USA. Mom from a little town in Alsace, Dad from Berlin.  Had an effect, for sure. Worked as producer in London for the great film director, Paul Weiland, and hall-of-fame copywriter from CDP days. When he chose my ad for his production company promo over his own, I thought maybe I should rethink this career thing.

Since then, a penchant for selling in game-changing and well-crafted concepts and campaigns for a diverse roster of categories and brands, from fashion to pharma, with a love for beauty in between. And a lot of firsts. At BBDO, first commercial participation for Lay’s potato chips made it to the Super Bowl and first print campaign for Hyatt ran for nearly a decade.

At McCann, my very first pharma commercial “Everyday is a Gift,” for Topamax, the good drug migraine medicine, tested through the roof and hopefully helped a lot of people. Then onto L’oreal and creatively directing Kohl’s, creating themes and choosing directors that made merchandise-packed commercials look like stylish little French movies. Helped attract high-end fashion partners like Vera Wang and helped take the company into its most profitable seasons of growth. Fostered some young talent, won some awards and in between, co-founded Clementine Branding to do some neat, new branding and non-profit work.

At DDB, sold the winning integrated campaign for Zostavax Shingles medicine and recently got to work there on some beautiful unbranded osteoporosis awareness campaigns. Also just penned the ASPCA’s new call-to-action, as well as Feed America’s Outnumber Hunger initiative with General Mills. The next first?  Publishing my children’s book.
